FOCS For Real?

There has been an ongoing attack on FOCS for some time. More precisely, on FOCS sites. Here are the real sites (on the left) and the "attacked" sites (on the right): can you spot the diff?. Thanks to Phil Klein for battling the squatters.

The sites on the right are not legitimate FOCS sites, yet are nearly identical copies of the legitimate sites, with some delta which is the key.

This reminds me of the IOI 2008 website. Nothing weird is visible, but try viewing the source and reading the line that contains the word "outlook". The strange thing is, that was there even leading up to the event, so it's as if the legitimate website owners put it there on purpose!

Wow, never underestimate spammers. Or sploggers. Or... splORGers?

On focs2007.org I see the ads in the lower left like: laptopmemoryupgrade dot com.

Look what our ultra open web has wrought!

It's actually hard to separate this logically from placing ads on Google News. I guess the key to a legitimate site is disclosure.

Hi Anon,

Cool! IOI2008 like hidden text in html -- eg in blogs -- plays havoc some times.
