Haikus from NYers, NY Times, Circa 1997

Here's the East Village
Green mohawk, a pierced navel
And that's just the dogs.
(Matthew Wills, Brooklyn)
Nighttime is noisetime
cars cry like babies in pain
Somone pick them up
(Jerry Burke, Manhattan)

"I want the B train"
A boy cries on the A train
Only in New York.
(Cary LeCheen, Manhattan)

I live in New York
I can make it anywhere
I can't make it here.
(Ameer Gittens, The Bronx)

These all miss one essential aspect of a haiku -- they should refer to a particular season. E.g., "springtime in New York".

Yes, NickH, I suppose I was not paying attention to that requirement. I did, however, make the cut--which is more than can be said for you. :-P
