New Univ in New York?

Mayor Bloomberg has put his energy in the past on big projects, some more successfully than others, and this time, the City has been seeking responses to its proposal to start a new Univ for Applied Sciences (yes, CS counts). More info in NYT article.

Interesting! I wonder what the incentive is to bring in a Stanford satellite campus, rather than funding an expansion of engineering programs at say, Columbia. I don't know of any satellite campuses that are even remotely as strong as their home campuses (e.g. Carnegie Mellon satellite in Mountain View).
