Quixote Magic
Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes gets reexamined repeatedly in surrealistic paintings (appearing as a theme in Dali's many paintings) and magical realistic writings (Borges's little gem is one of my faves; Paul Auster, in a brilliant piece, chases the explanation of who wrote Dan Quixote). Every once in a while, I can understand the modern life only in quixotic ways described in this 1605 novel.
