Chicken

When people try exotic meat -- say Alligator -- and talk about it later, they usually say, it tastes like chicken (or not). It is the benchmark. A hen proves to be quirky in the must-subscribe foodie farmgirl fare. No talk of chicken is complete for me without discussing steak. I remember an ad for a steakhouse that (roughly recalled) said: "Terrifying vegetations since XXXX", with an imposing, full page picture of a steak knife. I sleuthed a little to track this ad, which seems to have a controversial history and its variants.
